The Capriccio of the Rhineland can be counted in this genre. The hustle and bustle on the banks of the Rhine can be observed from a small hill. On the left is a village with a church ruin, in front of which many boats anchor and trade is booming. The wider landscape, which is characterized by castles, fields, forested hills and mountains, opens up across the Rhine. The sky is determined by the dark clouds coming from the left, which create a rainbow with the sunny blue on the right. The cross plays an important role here, as it is characterized as the highest point in the picture and is directed towards the landscape.
