A young woman stands barefoot with two empty garbage pails on the shore and looks at the water. Bright reflections of light reflect the sky around the seagrass, while an abandoned boat anchored on the more remote part. Dense bushes and trees line the opposite bank.
The noble colouring of the picture in combination with the balanced composition show Fischer's independence in the context of European painting around 1900.
