Information about the artist

Oppler was primarily a portrait, interior and landscape painter who completed his studies in Munich with Karl Raupp, Nikolaus Gysis and Ludwig von Löfftz. He then worked in London and Sluis in Holland before settling in Berlin from 1905. His pictures are influenced by impressionism and especially by Max Liebermann.
Both private and public collections have works by Oppler, such as the Nationalgalerie Berlin, the Kestner Museum Hanover, the Neue Pinakothek Munich or the Galleria d’Arte Moderna Venice.
