Information about the artist

Jensen was born in 1800 in the Danish village Gentofte near Copenhagen. In 1814 he became a student at the Royal Academy in Copenhagen and studied with Eckerberg and Fritzsch. In 1817 and 1818, he received his first awards. In 1822 the Danish Crown Prince Frederick became aware of his work and sent him to the Royal Porcelain Manufactory Sevres and provided him with a travel grant.
